About Galden® D02

Galden® D02 PFPE Electronic Reliability Testing Fluid

Galden® D02 provides a versatile balance of boiling point and viscosity, making it a proven choice for both thermal shock and hermetic seal indicator applications aligned with established MIL-STD-883 screening methodologies. Its low evaporation profile and chemical inertness translate into stable long-term performance and lower total cost of ownership under repeated cycling.

Galden® D02 is an excellent replacement for 3M Novec FC 40 and FC43 fluids.

Primary Applications

Thermal Shock – Hot Bath (MIL)
Listed across multiple MIL-STD-883 conditions (B/C/E/F), often paired with DET or LN₂ for the cold step; hot steps to ~200 °C.

Hermetic seal testing — Indicator (MIL)
Type II, Condition C1 approach; higher bp and low vapor pressure minimize loss during test.

Liquid Burn-In Testing — Dielectric Heat-Transfer Bath
Balanced viscosity/stability for mid-range soak temperatures in powered burn-in.

Secondary Applications

High-Voltage / Hipot Soak & Flashover Screening
Insulating bath for hipot/flashover screens at moderate-high temps.

Carrier Fluid for Penetrants (NDT / Liquid Penetrant Concepts)
Low surface tension/viscosity aid wetting; bp ~175 °C limits evaporation during longer inspection cycles.

Trace-Residue Elimination & Inspection Rinse
Ambient/heated rinses for clean, residue-free parts.

Custom Liquid Cooling in Test Rigs & Fixtures
Good choice for sustained mid-to-high temperature loops and baths.

Chemical Processing & Aerospace Test Support (Property-Based Fit)
Inert liquid for lab/fixture heat-transfer near reactive media.

Product Line Details: Galden® PFPE

Galden® PFPE electronic fluids is a line of dielectric fluids with boiling points ranging from 55 °C to 270 °C. Their excellent dielectric properties, high chemical and thermal stability combined with their capacity to operate at very low as well as elevated temperatures make them ideal for electronic quality testing. Fluids non-reactivity, excellent dielectric properties, nontoxicity, non-flammability and non-solvent features make Galden® PFPE electronic fluids suitable for electronic reliability testing including thermal shock and hermetic seal testing.
